I don't know where they heard it from, but today, I overheard the girls saying, "Oh no, you di'int." Then the other one would say, "OH yes, I did!" back and forth. Hmm, wonder where they picked it up from. Kinda funny.
So, Lexi has been testing her boundaries lately. She tries to tell me no, that she 'doesn't wanna', and I have to set her all straight again. I'm the boss. I'm in charge. We've been working on listening- so she obeys the first time I ask- instead of waiting until I'm blue in the face and getting after her a half hour later. She's doing better.
I just keep thinking that God has a sense of humor. I did this same, exact thing when I was young. I'm sure my mom enjoys listening to me whine and complain. I do notice a lot of me in my children, and I wish I saw more of my husband in them. They did get his adventurousness and climbing skills from him. Hmmm, maybe his listening skills too. :) Maybe I should just pick my battles and stop being so nit-picky.
So, Howie still loves his job, I still love being a mom, and the kids are all healthy. We've been enjoying some sun and warmer weather. Life is good. I'll end with a great quote from a very wise man.
"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will--to your surprise--miss them profoundly."(Gordon B. Hinckley)

ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment...
the similarity between 3-yr-old and husband listening skills sounds about right :)
ReplyDeleteI also have a child like me...now I am wishing I would not have been quite so headstrong and sassy...sigh :)
