Hey, Good lookin'! Whatcha got cookin'.....
Chef Maci decided to try her hand at cooking yesterday. She got out a tupperware container, filled it full of warm water and then put cashews into it. Then, she asked me to get her the cinnamon and salt and pepper. She stirred it up, smelled it, and smiled at her little concoction. I was making macaroni, so she asked if she could add the raw elbow noodles to her 'snack'. Sure, a little creativity never hurt anyone, right? Then, she said that her 'instructures' called for her to put it in the micorwave. She pushed a few buttons and pressed 'start'. I turned around to see that 36:42 were left remaining on her cooking time. AH! But she pressed the 'stop' button after about 45 seconds and felt that it was warm enough. From there, she put it in the fridge to cool. It sat overnight, and once she finished with her oatmeal this morning, she said 'her instructures' were to put it in the microwave today. She warmed it up, and like any big sister would, she 'let' Lexi try the first bite. Anyway, Lexi liked it. Wanted to eat it instead of her soggy marshmellow mateys (minus the marshmallows- only the anchors were left). Maci did try it and said it was good. Then, she dumped some milk in it, and was about to put it back in the fridge for later, but I made her toss it. I will let her help me cook more often. Am I a mean mom? Am I killing her creative juices because I wouldn't let her eat it, or let her add more stuff (she wanted to put in a pinch of oatmeal and some raisens)? If we weren't going to church later, I probably wouldn't have minded too much. But, I didn't want a mess to clean up later. That's our latest adventures!
