One Tough Cookie
Friday night, Lexi said her throat hurt. She felt a little feverish, so I gave her some Tylenol and sent her back to bed. Today, I looked at her throat- very inflammed tonsils. So, I took her in to the dr. She was acting totally fine. In fact, the nurse had to ask who was sick. Lexi walked right with the nurse, smiling up at her. I was walking behind, and I could just imagine little Lexi following in Dave and Heather's footsteps. :) Nurse Lexi...Anyway, Lexi walked right into the exam room, and wanted me to set her on the table. Then, after the nurse left, Lexi said, "Mom, I can wiggle my ears. See, watch!" Sure enough, she can wiggle her ears- just like Pres. Monson. (You can check that out on youtube.) She had me laughing and I was happy that the doctor doesn't scare my child. When the doc finally came in, she sat still while she listened to her breathe, checked her ears and nose. Then she checked her throat. The doc asked her to lay down and asked me to hold her arms down because she was going to swab her throat. She warned me that Lexi would want to try and pull the swab out of her throat, so to hold on tight. Well, Lexi surprised us both- didn't even blink. Just sat there still, and let her do it. The doc was amazed. The test came back positive for strep. She asked if we should give her a shot, or antibiotics twice a day for 10 days. Lexi said she wanted the shot. Shot it is. The nurse came in, had her lay on her stomach and pulled her skirt down a bit so she could shoot her bum. The whole time, the nurse is saying, "This is going to hurt, ow, ow, owie." Lexi just laid there, didn't even flinch. Just looked straight ahead, and blinked a few times. She was proud of the circle bandaid she got. The nurse and doc were amazed! Such a brave little girl. They gave her a token so she could get a little toy out of the machine. I asked her if it hurt, Nope. Anyway, if ya can't tell, I'm a little proud. :)
