I love my job!
So, yesterday...was sort of a long day. It was a good day- very productive, but by the evening, I was wiped out. We were just finishing cleaning the house- Maci was vacuuming her room (I 'let' her vacuum since she picked it up), and Lexi was playing with her big Pony. At about this time, I heard nature calling, so off I went. And since I was so worn out, I took my time. (This story has a point, don't worry!) So, as I was sitting there, I hear a loud crash. Lexi, in the living room, gasped, "Oh! I'm sorry Mommy!" But then she turned and noticed no one was around, so she wandered through the house, saying "Sorry, Mommy, I didn't mean to. Then wimpered, "Where are you?" to which I hollered back, "I'm in here!" She came to the closed door, and said, "Mommy, I'm sorry, but (sniffle) I accidentally broke (sniffle sniffle) your special lamp. I'm sorry!" By this time the poor thing is crying, (and I'm washing my hands). I told her it was okay, and asked what had happened. She tied her pony up to the lamp and then decided she didn't want it tied up anymore, so she pulled, really hard, and the lamp fell over, breaking the glass and the light bulb. I gave the puffy-eyed girl a hug and told her I wasn't mad, and that I think we can fix it. (By the way, I inherited this lamp from my great-grandparents.) We cleaned up the glass, and Maci gladly helped vaccuum up the little pieces. And everything was okay again. I was impressed with Lexi's knot on the lamp! I guess what melted my heart was how sincere she was. She was truly broken hearted. Such strong emotion from such a little girl. Anyway, the rest of the evening went well- we grilled pork chops and asparagus, had corn, and rice. Then, we roasted Halloween Peeps over an open fire (with our coats on.) It was so fun! I love my little family!
