100 day and the Olympics!

Tomorrow is Maci's 100th day of school. They will be celebrating by dressing like they are 100 years old, making 100 hash- (which is basically like trail mix- everyone brings 100 of something and puts it all together. We're bringing pink marshmallows.) Lexi and get to take part in the festivities because we were asked to help with Centers that day. So, we'll dress up too. I told Maci she gets to hunch over and walk slowly and have a cane. She said, "No, Mom. I want to be like the old lady on Aristocats (Lady Adelaide)." She is, you know, fancy- stands very erect, wears fancy clothes, jewelry, and a white boa. We'll see how we do tomorrow.

My Mom is also joining in the fun because she is tomorrow's Royal Reader. She gets to wear a cape and crown as she reads a book about 100 to the class. Maci's so excited. I think Mom is too. :)

So, the Olympics are a huge hit at our house. Maci and Lexi watched the ski jumping last Saturday while folding clothes. I heard them cheer with every skiiers jump. Then, Maci came to tell me something (in another room), and Lexi came and said, "Sorry, Mace. The guy didn't jump all the way to the line. Sorry. " Hahaha- they crack me up.

They LOVE watching the figure skating. Lexi told Howie that she wanted to be his skating partner and he could lift her over his head with one hand. Well, yesterday, we decided to go to the nearby ice skating rink and try our hand (er...foot) at skating. Maci's comment was, "This is a lot harder than I thought." Needless to say, Lexi didn't do any lifts with Howie. We all just, as gracefully as we could, shuffled around the rink. Someone had the bright idea of putting out 2 student chairs so those learning- like Lexi and Maci- could hang on and push them around. I hadn't skated since I was in 8th grade. Howie was impressed with my skills. :)

Anyway, that's our update. Have a GREAT week!!
